Margie and I joined good friends Ed and Deb Drowkowski and Chef emeritus Kaj and Carla Sorensen at Bodacious for their most recent wine dinner. As I understand, these dinners are intended to showcase locally sourced food items from the “general” area vicinities.

The first item of note was the table setting. No, not a mirror shot. Perhaps there is a more recent version of Amy Vanderbilt I need to purchase!
The available wine list piqued my interest. Not familiar with the Brownstone label, I did an internet search on my phone. During the course of the evening I tasted both the Chardonnay and the Cab, both of which were acceptable. I do note that these wines are readily available in our market at retail for $8 to $10 a bottle. So at $10 a glass at the table that equates to at least a 7 to 1 turn. And the Chardonnay was served at room temperature.
First course was wonderful. Good corn bread and the mint jelly was excellent!
Second course. The micro greens were very good.
The forth course was interesting. The beef cheeks were exceptionally tender. Nice brown sauce, a good sized portion and slightly under seasoned for my taste. I’ve never had crunchy field peas before, so that was a new experience. The “ratatouille” looked delicious but was tough and dry.
Desert was more corn meal. Chef Kaj commented that one does not use the same ingredient in multiple courses.
The mint jelly was the winner and the company was excellent!
