To those who are not members of the local chapter of the American Wine Society, you may consider joining. The group meets monthly to explore various wines from around the world. The cost is minimal for these events, $20 a head, and extremely educational, especially for those wanting to expand their wine knowledge and appreciation.
The most recent AWS meeting was held February 26 afternoon at the home of Pam Davey, the chapter Chairman. Alex Boykin made the presentation about wines from Portugal. But of course!
Alex gave a very informative and easy to understand explanation of the different wines from Portugal, not just Ports, and then went into the various types of Ports and the many styles of this intriguing wine from this unique country. I’ve been into wines for over three decades and I came away with an expanded appreciation of Portuguese wines.
