The Wednesday night tasting at East Hill Bottle shop had a number of nice wines. My fav was the Moulin Cassac Pinot Noir from France. Very minerally, which I like. It was not only my best of show but the least expensive at under $12 a bottle. I bought a case!
Later Margie and I headed for Alice’s Restaurant. Each week, Alice pairs up with Paula Finley, manager at Anna’s Wine Shop at Joe Patti’s, for a wine tasting in the bar area of Alice’s. This was my first event there and I found it to be quite different from most other wine tastings. There were six wines poured, three selected by Alice and three selected by Paula.. As often is their practice, this tasting was themed, this time around French wines, a bubbly, a chardonnay and four reds. Joe Occhipinti and two others played delightful jazz for the two dozen or so seated attendees. The music was a bit louder than deaf Bob would have preferred, but still a very nice and intimate venue. Margie and I split an order of their barbequed shrimp seasoned in the original Pascal’s Manale presentation, but without the heads and shells. Delicious, and paired well with a couple of glasses of Belle Glos Pinot Noir we ordered! A very delightful change of pace from most wine tastings! Keep up the good work, you two!
I add that appetizers are half price at Alice’s between four and six and they have an extensive wine offerings. See the picture of their wine cellar.
